Quadkids

A wonderful commitment and perseverance shown by our talented Y4 Quadkids team, who were selected from Sports Day achievements from last year and their commitment to joining Athletics club, after school this year.

They all enjoyed their 3 events of 60m sprint, long jump, and howler throw, and even their first event of 400m, all of them put in 100 per cent and there were no problems with the distance!

Dodgeball

Well done to the 10 children who were selected to play in the Dodgeball Festival, along with 18 other schools from our Stroud District. They used their resilience and tactics to try and outwit their opponents on Wednesday morning, showing great power and accuracy in their throws and great dodging from oncoming balls! The rain kept away and we managed to win the majority of our games before 'Jailbreak' was shouted!

Netball

Well done to all the children who took part in the netball tournament at Stratford Park. The Y5/6 children played well, improving their skills as each game went on.

Chalford Hill won two, and lost two of their games, and had to be very adaptable, moving around 4 different positions on court over the morning. A great team effort.

Multi-Skills

Our Multi skills event was enjoyed by 10 of our Y2 children this week. They really showed their talents in aiming their bean bag to gain highest scores, the majority gaining the highest score of 50! They loved the hurdles and the penalty goal shooting, along with collecting all the balls thrown up in the air by the popcorn maker( the parachute!) A great team effort, along with fantastic personal performances by all. Mrs Nesbit is looking forward to taking more Y2 children next term.

Hockey

Well done to all our hockey players from Y6, who played against Thrupp school at Thomas Keble. All children played well as a team and should be proud of their performances in attack and defence.

Rugby

A cold frosty morning, but well done to our Y5 and Y6 team of rugby players, who battled against strong opposition in their group, and did not lose a game! We won two matches, but drew 4-4 to the eventual winners of the tournament. Congratulations to our Chalford Hill team for ending up in sixth position, after another tie and our only loss of the morning, leaving us in 6th position after the second round of play offs.

Football

Well done to our 11 talented footballers, who played well individually and as a team to win their game against Bussage, draw against The Croft, but unfortunately they did lose, just 1 -0 (in the final minute) to the eventual Silver medal winners, King Stanley.

As a team we went into the FA cup position for 9th place and managed to not lose any more games! Winning against Rodborough, and drawing 1-1 against Gastrells and The Croft too.

Congratulations to all for a great morning of football.

Football

Our y6 footballers played in a tournament on Monday against the other schools in our Hub.  We beat Cashes Green and Thrupp but lost in the final, on penalties, to Stroud Valley.  It was even stevens after 4 penalties and it was a really tough way to lose.  But throughout all our players played so well and supported each other to succeed.  Many thanks to all the parents who came to support the team.

Girls' Football

A huge congratulations to the competitive girls' football team that won their way through their first Round Robin stage, and not conceding a goal, to get themselves playing for the medals.  They moved forward, knowing they had the ability to win as they had done for the last 2 years, bringing back to school a trophy.  However, this year the competition was strong and some great talent from the other teams were on show.  Chalford Hill girls won against Minchinhampton, to be able to play for the gold or silver where we then had our tallest and strongest opponents yet; Highnam.  We still managed to keep our clean sheet going, as a great first goal from Zoe took the match to a nail biting last 3 minutes, with Highnam on the attack. Our defence held strong and we were victorious for the 3rd consecutive year.  Well done and congratulations to all who took part in this new squad of girls.  So proud of each and every player.  Mrs Nesbit
