Chalford Hill Primary School

At Chalford Hill School we consider the primary years the most significant in your child's development.  We offer a broad, balanced thematic curriculum, where subjects are linked by skills and concepts and learning opportunitities are embraced both in and outside of the classroom.

Everyone here works hard to maintain the supportive and friendly feel of a village school.  We are committed to developing the whole child, helping to nurture their skills to become confident, independent learners.

Reception Class

We have a very spacious Reception classroom which opens onto a self-contained well-equipped outdoor play area which is used purely by this year group.  We leave the doors open.....

Library

The library is resourced with a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts which the children are free to take home. This complements the wealth of books in class book corners.

Hall

The Hall is a multi-purpose space facilitating whole school activities such as assemblies, the Infant Christmas performance and the Junior end of year play.  This also ensures we are able to offer full access to the PE curriculum as well as before and after school provision (i.e Breakfast Club and After School Clubs).  We have our own kitchen so children can eat hot meals in the hall at lunchtime.

Outdoor Spaces

The school garden is used extensively as an extra learning resource.  It consists of a large area of open lawn with a trim trail of wooden climbing equipment.  There is also a pond, used to support aspects of the science curriculum, an enclosed woodland area and an outdoor classroom.  We have three separate playgrounds with a variety of equipment and a nearby sports field.  do we mention Mr & Mrs Parrot's woods here?

Playgrounds

We have 3 separate playgrounds.  Blurp about different sports children can choose to play, also used for PE, and mention other equipment we have.

Playing Field

The school has a large playing field, a short walk away, which enables all of our children to enjoy outdoor sporting activities such as football, tag rugby, cricket and athletics.  The field is also used during our annual Activities Week where the children enjoy fantastic challenges in all weathers and of course, Sports Day, which is always a hugely anticipated event in the school calendar!
